Smart Trader Extension - Privacy Policy

Smart Trader ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that automatically places trading orders on your Zerodha Kite broker account based on algorithmic trading signals generated by a connected backend system.

This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it's used, and your rights regarding that data.

2.1 Authentication Data

• Broker Session Token (Kite): The Extension reads your Kite session token (enctoken) from browser cookies to authenticate order placement requests. This token is never stored on disk or sent to our servers.
• Broker Client ID: Used to validate your broker account and route orders correctly.

2.2 Trading Data

• Signals received: Symbol, direction (BUY/SELL), price, timestamp
• Orders placed: Order ID, quantity, status, timestamps
• Order confirmations: From your broker after execution

2.3 Configuration Data (Stored Locally)

• Backend server URL
• Auto-trade preference (on/off)
• Paper mode setting
• Broker preference (Kite/Dhan)
• Last seen signal timestamp (for deduplication)

2.4 What We DO NOT Collect

• Your password or login credentials
• Account number or PAN
• Account balance or holdings
• Personal information (name, email, phone)
• Browser history or other websites visited
• Keystroke logging or screen recording

• Order Placement: Your session token is used ONLY to place trading orders on your behalf via Kite's official API.
• Signal Delivery: We receive trading signals from your configured backend server and display them in the Extension.
• Validation: Your broker client ID is validated against our backend to ensure you're an authorized user.
• Error Handling: Order errors and connection failures are logged for debugging purposes.
• Preferences: Your settings are stored locally in your browser for convenience.

4.1 Data Storage Locations

• Browser Local Storage: Configuration and preferences stay on YOUR machine only.
• Your Broker (Kite/Dhan): Order data is sent directly to your broker's servers.
• Your Backend Server: Trading signals are received from the backend server you configure (typically dailyfactshub.com).

4.2 Third Parties

We DO NOT share your data with:

• Analytics companies
• Advertising networks
• Data brokers or marketers
• Other extensions or apps
• Any third party except your broker and your configured backend

• Session Tokens: Cleared immediately when browser closes or you log out.
• Configuration: Stored locally until you uninstall the Extension.
• Signal History: Displayed in the Extension UI but not permanently stored (browser cache only).
• Order Data: Exists on your broker's servers per their data retention policy.

When you uninstall the Extension: All local data is automatically deleted by Chrome. Nothing persists.

6.1 User Controls

• Disable Auto-Trade: You can toggle auto-trade on/off anytime. Paper mode is the default for safety.
• View Local Data: Open Chrome DevTools → Application → Local Storage to see what's stored.
• Clear Data: Uninstall the Extension to delete all local data.

6.2 No Tracking or Analytics

We do NOT use:

• Google Analytics or similar tracking
• Crash reporting with data collection
• Telemetry or usage statistics
• Advertising pixels or beacons

• HTTPS Only: All communication with backend and Kite APIs uses HTTPS encryption.
• No Disk Storage: Authentication tokens never touch your disk.
• Minimal Permissions: Extension requests only the absolute minimum permissions needed.
• Browser Sandbox: Extension runs in Chrome's security sandbox with no access to your OS.
• No Remote Code Execution: Extension code is reviewed by Chrome before publication.

Smart Trader complies with:

• Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies - Honest representation of functionality
• User Data Policy - Transparent data collection and usage
• No Deceptive Practices: The Extension clearly states it auto-places orders; user consent is obtained at installation.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Extension or legal requirements. You will be notified of material changes through:

• Update to this policy on our website
• Chrome Web Store listing update notification

Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
